33 Has Been Good to Me

I am not ashamed of my age.  I often make jokes about it, but reality is, I actually happen to like my 30s.  Seems like an odd thing to say for someone whose divorce was final last year!  However, when looked at against my 20s, my teens, and my childhood... I happen to love my 30s.

There are a lot of things that change in your 30s.  I actually feel like I have come into my own more in the last few years than I have ever been.  I have learned a lot about myself, and I am looking forward to learning more!

My birthday is next month, and I find myself reflecting a lot on the last year of my life.  What did 33 mean to me, and what do I want to do with 34??
I have this awesome aunt, whom I spent a good deal of time with growing up.  I look up to her a lot and have so much respect for her.  Last year I went to visit her and had such a wonderful time.  When I told her that I wanted to come visit and go to Biltmore, one of my favorite places, she told me that she would join me.  She also told me that she wanted to go to a special "tea" that is served at the Biltmore Inn.  While I thought this was such a fun idea and was very excited, I didn't realize why she wanted to do it until we were there.  For the year 2018, she made a list of 18 things that she wanted to do, and I fell completely in love with this idea!

So I am borrowing her idea, and putting a spin on it of my own.
I want to find 33 things that I accomplished over the last year and make a list of 34 things to accomplish while I am 34.

Yes, I am aware that this idea isn't crazy original, but I didn't claim to invent it!  I am just doing a little something something for myself.

So, 33 things that I have accomplished over the last year, here goes nothing.

1)    I went back to work.
2)    I found myself back in cheer world, coaching my daughter.
3)    My divorce was final.
4)    Tea at Biltmore with my Aunt Melissa.
5)    Watched fireworks over the SLC Valley in Utah for the 4th of July
6)    I finally saw some of the One Tree Hill set in Wilmington
7)    I bought a new car, all by myself!
8)    I watched my son played his first baseball game.
9)    I threw a bridal shower for my sister.
10)  Attended my 5th Audiology camp in Richmond.
11)  I reconnected with a dear friend, and was able to spend time with her in Richmond.
12)  I ate lunch at my favorite Park City restaurant.
13)  I watched my son learn how to potty train.
14)  I celebrated with family as I watched my cousin become a marine.
15)  I spent time with a cousin whom I hadn't seen in over a decade, and our daughters met!
16)  I watched my sister get married.
17)  I saw my 2nd Cirque De Soliel show, Crystal.
18)  My son started 1st Grade.
19)  My daughter started 3rd Grade.
20)  I "survived" 2 hurricanes.
21)  I played Tooth Fairy to my son for the first time.
22)  I visited the NC Zoo with my kids for the first time.
23)  I walked in my first parade.
24)  I traveled to Georgia, and met a lot of new people.
25)  I made my first Ugly Christmas sweater!
26)  I attended my first Ugly Christmas sweater party, and won!
27)  I cooked in my Aunt Melissa's kitchen.
28)  I survived Snowmagedden.
29)  I went to the movies with my mom and saw Bohemian Rhapsody.
30)  I started making updates to my house, some painting, appliances, and furniture.
31)  I finally met one of my dear friend's husband, and her sweet puppy.
32)  I adopted a dog, even if she didn't work out.
33)  I started tumbling again, and love it so much.

My list of things I would like to do next year will be somewhat different than this, as it will be full of hopes, dreams, and ideas.  This list is made up from reflection, and what a wonderful last year it has been.  I can't wait to see what 34 has in store for me, and I am already working on my list!
