Stromboli 101

One of my new favorite meals to make is STROMBOLI!  It is delicious and so easy to make that it barely qualifies as cooking!  I made one the other evening and posted it's amazingness on Facebook.  I had a few people ask for the recipe, so I thought I would make another one tonight and show you how I make it via photos!
So here we go...

You will need...
Pillsbury Pizza Crust (I buy the one in the can which is in the refrigerated section)
Pizza Sauce
Pepperonis
Sausage (cook it off, pat off the grease, and crumble)
Green Olives (optional... you can use any pizza toppings you chose)
Fresh Sliced Mozzarella
Garlic Salt

Tips...
Any toppings you use that have a lot of liquid (i.e. diced roma tomatoes, pineapple) DRAIN them.

Instructions...
Preheat the oven to 425 and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Open the pizza dough, and place it on the lined baking sheet.
I use a rolling pin at this point to shape the dough into a large rectangle.

Then I take a flat serving tool (you can use a butter knife of anything with a sharp edge) and I cut the diagonal strips.  I cut the same amount of strips on each side.

Next I cut straight lines on all 4 corners.

And then remove the corner pieces of dough, and SAVE them!

Add pizza sauce to the center.

Then Pepperonis and olives.  I am the only one who eats olives, so I put them on half!
If you add sausage, I put it on top of the pepperonis.  I didn't have time to cook it tonight.

I buy sliced Fresh Mozzarella at Costco, and I cut the slices in half.

Adding Basil is another nice touch, but I forgot it tonight!
Now, I fold the ends up.

Then stretch the strips across.

Keep working your way to the other end alternating sides.

Now, for those random dough pieces...
shape them into rectangles and lay on tray with Stromboli.

Top everything with a little Garlic Salt... or in my house a LOT of Garlic Salt!

And toss it in the oven!  Set the timer for 9 mins.
Check on the breadsticks at 9 mins, and take them out if they are golden!
I usually cook the Stromboli for an additional 2 mins.

Remove it once it is golden brown.  Serve with breadsticks and Pizza Sauce for dipping!

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
